ജീപ്പ്, കാർ, ട്രാവലർ, ബസ് എന്നീ വാഹനങ്ങളാണ് തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് ഡ്യൂട്ടിക്കായി പ്രധാനമായും ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരുന്നത്. മുൻകാലങ്ങളിൽ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് അവസാനിച്ചാലുടൻ പണം നേരിട്ട് കൈമാറുന്നതായിരുന്നു രീതി. എന്നാൽ ഇത്തവണ ബാങ്ക് അക്കൗണ്ടുകൾ വഴി നൽകുമെന്നാണ് അധികൃതർ അറിയിച്ചിരുന്നത്. ഒരു മാസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടും പണം അക്കൗണ്ടുകളിൽ എത്തിയിട്ടില്ലെന്നാണ് ഡ്രൈവർമാരുടെ പരാതി.

തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് ഡ്യൂട്ടിക്കായി 13 ദിവസത്തോളം ഓടിയ ഇനത്തിൽ കാർ ഡ്രൈവർമാർക്ക് 40,000 രൂപയോളം വാടക ലഭിക്കാനുണ്ട്. നിയമസഭാ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് കഴിഞ്ഞ് ഒരു മാസം പിന്നിട്ടിട്ടും തുക അനുവദിക്കാത്തത് ടാക്സി ഉടമകളെ വലിയ പ്രതിസന്ധിയിലാക്കിയിരിക്കുകയാണ്. വാടക നൽകാൻ ഇനിയും കാലതാമസം നേരിടുകയാണെങ്കിൽ ശക്തമായ പ്രതിഷേധ പരിപാടികളുമായി മുന്നോട്ട് പോകാനാണ് ടാക്സി ജീവനക്കാരുടെ തീരുമാനം.

Consequently, taxi unions have warned of launching strong protests if the authorities do not release the pending funds immediately.
