ഇടുക്കിയിലെ വിനോദസഞ്ചാര മേഖലകളിലടക്കം തെരുവുനായ ശല്യം രൂക്ഷമായിട്ടും എങ്ങുമെത്താതെ പ്രതിരോധ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ. ജില്ലാ ആസ്ഥാനത്തെ എബിസി സെന്ററിന്റെ നിർമാണവും ഇഴഞ്ഞുനീങ്ങുകയാണ്. അനിമൽ റെസ്ക്യു ടീമിന്റെ സേവനം മാത്രമാണ് നിലവിൽ ജില്ലയിലുള്ളത്.
ജില്ലയിൽ ഏഴായിരത്തിലധികം തെരുവുനായകളുണ്ടെന്നാണ് മൃഗസംരക്ഷണ വകുപ്പിന്‍റെ കണക്ക്. കഴിഞ്ഞ ഒരു മാസത്തിനിടെ 400 പേർ നായകളുടെ കടിയേറ്റ് ചികിത്സ നേടി. മൂന്നാർ, ബൈസൺ വാലി, പള്ളിവാസൽ, മറയൂർ, വട്ടവട എന്നീ വിനോദസഞ്ചാര കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടെ തെരുവുനായകളുടെ എണ്ണം വർദ്ധിച്ചിട്ടും ഇതുവരെ യാതൊരു നടപടിയും സ്വീകരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.
സർക്കാർ സഹായം ലഭിക്കാത്തതിനാൽ സ്വാതന്ത്ര അനിമൽ റെസ്ക്യൂ ടീമിന്റെ പ്രവർത്തനവും പ്രതിസന്ധിയിലാണ്.
കുയിലിമലയിലെ അരയേക്കാർ സ്ഥലത്ത് നിർമ്മാണം തുടങ്ങിയ എ ബി സി സെന്റർ ഉടനെ പ്രവർത്തനം തുടങ്ങിയില്ലെങ്കിൽ ജില്ലയിലെ തെരുവ് നായ നിയന്ത്രണം വീണ്ടും അവതാളത്തിലാകും.
ENGLISH SUMMARY:
Despite the severe issue of stray dog menace in Idukki's tourism areas and other parts of the district, preventive measures are proving ineffective. The construction of the ABC center in the district headquarters is progressing slowly. Currently, only the service of the Animal Rescue Team is available in the district. According to the Animal Husbandry Department, there are over 7,000 stray dogs in the district. In the last month alone, 400 people have received treatment for dog bites. Despite the increasing number of stray dogs in tourist centers like Munnar, Bison Valley, Pallivasal, Marayoor, and Vattavada, no action has been taken so far. The operations of the Swathanthra Animal Rescue Team are also facing difficulties due to lack of government aid. If the ABC center under construction in Kuyilimala does not start functioning soon, stray dog control in the district will face further setbacks.
