മലപ്പുറം തിരുവാലി പഞ്ചായത്തിൽ യു.ഡി.എഫിനുള്ളിലെ  തർക്കത്തെ തുടർന്ന് നീണ്ടുപോയ പ്രസിഡന്‍റ് തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് ഇന്നു നടക്കും. കോൺഗ്രസും മുസ്‌ലിം ലീഗും തമ്മിലുള്ള തർക്കം താൽക്കാലികമായി പരിഹരിച്ചതോടെയാണ് സമവായമായത്.  പദവിയെ ചൊല്ലിയുള്ള തർക്കത്തെ തുടർന്ന് ഇരു പാർട്ടികളും പ്രസിഡന്‍റ് തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൽനിന്ന് വിട്ടു നിന്നിരുന്നു.

പ്രസിഡന്‍റ് പദവി പങ്കിടണമെന്ന് ആവശ്യത്തിൽ നിന്ന്  ലീഗ് പിന്മാറാതെയാണ് പ്രസിഡൻറ് തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് മാറ്റി വയ്ക്കേണ്ടിവന്നത്.  ലീഗിന് വൈസ് പ്രസിഡണ്ട് പദവിക്കൊപ്പം ഒരു സ്റ്റാൻഡിങ് കമ്മിറ്റി ചെയർമാൻ കൂടി നൽകാനാണ് ധാരണ. അവസാനത്തെ ഒരു വർഷം പ്രസിഡന്‍റ് പദവി നൽകുന്ന കാര്യത്തിൽ പിന്നീട് ചർച്ചകൾ നടത്താമെന്നാണ് തീരുമാനം.

ഏറെക്കാലത്തിനുശേഷം യുഡിഎഫിന് ഭരണം ലഭിച്ച തിരുവാലി ഗ്രാമപഞ്ചായത്തിൽ കോൺഗ്രസിന് ഏഴും  ലീഗിന് നാലും അംഗങ്ങളാണുള്ളത്.

The election for the President of Thiruvali Grama Panchayat in Malappuram will be held today following a consensus between UDF allies, Congress and the Muslim League. The election had been delayed due to a dispute over the presidential post, with both parties previously abstaining from the process. According to the new agreement, the Muslim League will receive the Vice President post and one Standing Committee Chairmanship. Discussions regarding sharing the President's post for the final year of the term will be held later. In the current council, Congress has seven members and the League has four.
