കോഴിക്കോട് മെഡിക്കല്‍ കോളജില്‍ സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന അജ്ഞാത മൃതദേഹങ്ങള്‍ സംസ്കരിക്കുന്നതില്‍ പൊലീസും കോര്‍പറേഷനും രണ്ട് തട്ടില്‍. മോര്‍ച്ചറിയുടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം ഭാഗികമായി നിലച്ചതോടെ എത്രയും വേഗം മുഴുവന്‍ മൃതദേഹങ്ങളും സംസ്കരിക്കണമെന്ന് പൊലീസ് കോര്‍പറേഷനോട് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. എന്നാല്‍ പൊലീസിന്‍റെ വാദം പൂര്‍ണമായും ശരിയല്ലെന്നാണ് കോര്‍പറേഷന്‍ പറയുന്നത്.

കഴിഞ്ഞയാഴ്ചയാണ് മോര്‍ച്ചറിയിലെ കോള്‍ഡ് സ്റ്റോറേജ് റൂമിന്‍റെ ചെമ്പുകമ്പി മോഷണം പോയത്. ഇതോടെ  മൃതദേഹം സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്ന രണ്ട് റൂമുകളില്‍ ഒരെണ്ണം പൂര്‍ണമായും പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം നിലച്ചു. ഭാഗികമായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നതില്‍ അജ്ഞാത മൃതദേഹങ്ങള്‍ മാത്രം പത്തെണ്ണമുണ്ട്. ഇതോടെയാണ് പൊലീസ് മൃതദേഹങ്ങള്‍ നടപടി പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കി സംസ്കരിക്കാന്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടത്. എന്നാല്‍ പൊലീസിന്‍റെ ഭാഗത്താണ് വീഴ്ചയെന്നാണ് കോര്‍പറേഷന്‍റെ വാദം.

അനാട്ടമി ആക്ട് പ്രകാരം 72 മണിക്കൂറിനുള്ളില്‍ മൃതദേഹം സംസ്കരിക്കണമെന്നാണ്. പോസ്റ്റുമോര്‍ട്ടത്തിനായി മാത്രം ദിവസവും 12 മൃതദേഹങ്ങളെങ്കിലും എത്തുന്നുണ്ട്. പോസ്റ്റുമോര്‍ട്ടം ചെയ്യാന്‍ സാധിക്കാതെ വരുന്നതും അ‍ജ്ഞാത മൃതദേഹങ്ങളും കൂടിയാകുമ്പോള്‍ മോര്‍ച്ചറിയില്‍ സ്ഥലം ഇല്ലാത്ത അവസ്ഥയാണ്. മോര്‍ച്ചറിയുടെ മെയിന്റനന്‍സ് ചുമതലയുള്ള കമ്പനി വന്നു നോക്കിയെങ്കിലും അറ്റകുറ്റപ്പണി തുടങ്ങിയിട്ടില്ല.
