ഇടുക്കി തൊടുപുഴയിൽ ഡ്യൂട്ടിക്കിടെ മദ്യപിച്ച പൊലീസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർക്ക് സസ്‌പെൻഷൻ.  കരിമണ്ണൂർ സ്റ്റേഷനിലെ എസ്.ഐ റോയ് സുകുമാരൻ, സിപിഒ ജിജോ ആന്റണി എന്നിവർക്കെതിരെയാണ് എറണാകുളം റേഞ്ച് ഡി.ഐ.ജി  വകുപ്പുതല നടപടിയെടുത്തത്. ഫുട്ബോൾ ലോകകപ്പ് ഫൈനൽ മത്സരത്തിനിടെ മദ്യപിച്ചെന്നാരോപിച്ച് പൊലീസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരെ സിപിഎം പ്രവർത്തകർ തടഞ്ഞിരുന്നു 

ഫുട്ബോൾ ലോകകപ്പ് ഫൈനൽ മത്സരത്തിനിടെ തിങ്കളാഴ്ച പുലർച്ചയാണ് സിപിഎം പ്രവർത്തകരും നാട്ടുകാരും ചേർന്ന് പൊലീസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരെ തടഞ്ഞത്. ഡ്യൂട്ടിക്കിടെ മദ്യപിച്ചെന്ന ആരോപണമുയർന്നതോടെ ഔദ്യോഗിക വാഹനത്തിൽ നടത്തിയ പരിശോധനയിൽ മദ്യക്കുപ്പി കണ്ടെത്തി. തൊടുപുഴ ജില്ലാ ആശുപത്രിയിൽ നടത്തിയ രക്ത പരിശോധനയിൽ മദ്യപിച്ചെന്ന് സ്ഥിരീകരിക്കാനായിരുന്നില്ല. തുടർന്നാണ് രക്തം രാസ പരിശോധനയ്ക്കയച്ചത്. ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരെ തടഞ്ഞ സിപിഎം തൊടുപുഴ ഈസ്റ്റ് ഏരിയ സെക്രട്ടറി ലിനു ജോസ് ഉൾപ്പെടെ കണ്ടാൽ അറിയാവുന്ന 200 പേർക്കെതിരെ കേസെടുത്തിരുന്നു. 

സംഭവത്തിൽ ഡിജിപിയോട് ഹൈക്കോടതി റിപ്പോർട്ട് തേടിയിരുന്നു. സിപിഎം പ്രവർത്തകർക്കെതിരെ പൊലീസ് കേസ് റജിസ്റ്റർ ചെയ്തത് പ്രതികാര നടപടിയാണെന്നാണ് ആരോപണം.

Suspension of Karimannoor police station Sub-Inspector Roy Sukumaran and Civil Police Officer Jijo Antony by the Ernakulam Range DIG following allegations of consuming alcohol while on duty during the FIFA World Cup final match. The officers were intercepted by local residents and CPI(M) workers, who allegedly found a liquor bottle inside the official police vehicle during an inspection, though initial hospital blood tests were inconclusive and samples were sent for chemical analysis. Subsequently, police registered a case against approximately 200 individuals, including CPI(M) Thodupuzha East Area Secretary Linu Jose, which drew allegations of retaliatory action, while the High Court sought a formal report on the incident from the DGP.
