തെക്കനാട്ട് ഷോജി തോമസ്, ചക്കാലക്കല്‍ ജലീല്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ക്കാണ് തലയ്ക്കും കൈയ്ക്കും പരുക്കേറ്റത്. രാവിലെ വലിയ ശബ്ദത്തോടെ കല്ല് പല ഭാഗത്തേക്കായി ചിന്നിച്ചിതറുകയായിരുന്നു. സമീപത്തെ സമരപന്തലിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നു സ്ത്രീകളും കുട്ടികളും ശബ്ദം കേട്ട് പലഭാഗത്തേക്ക് ഓടിമാറി. ക്വാറിയില്‍ നിന്ന് 50 മീറ്റര്‍ മാറി പറമ്പില്‍ പണിയെടുത്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നവര്‍ക്കാണ് പരുക്കറ്റത്.

ക്വാറി അനധികൃതമായാണ് പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് ആരോപിച്ച് കഴിഞ്ഞ 24 ദിവസമായി പ്രദേശവാസികള്‍ സമരത്തിലാണ്. കുടിവെള്ള പ്രശ്നവും വീടുകള്‍ നേരിടുന്ന അപകടഭീഷണിയും, സമീപത്ത് പെട്രോള്‍ പമ്പ് പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നതും കണിക്കിലെടുക്കാതെയാണ് ക്വാറി പ്രവര്‍ത്തനമെന്ന് ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടിയാണ് പ്രതിഷേധസമരം. അതിനിടയിലുണ്ടായ അപകടത്തില്‍ ദുരൂഹതയുണ്ടെന്നും സമരസമിതി സംശയിക്കുന്നു.
