എറണാകുളം മഹാരാജാസ് കോളജില്‍ എസ്എഫ്ഐ പ്രതിഷേധം മൂലം മുടങ്ങിയ ബിരുദ ദാനം സ്കൂള്‍ മുറ്റത്ത് നടത്തി മന്ത്രി റോജി എം.ജോണ്‍. അതേസമയം പ്രതിഷേധത്തെച്ചൊല്ലി രാഷ്ട്രീയപ്പോരും രൂക്ഷമായി.  മന്ത്രിയെ എസ്എഫ്ഐക്കാര്‍ തടഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലെന്ന് സിപിഎം വാദിക്കുമ്പോള്‍, തിരുത്തുന്നതിന് പകരം സിപിഎം ന്യായീകരിക്കുന്നെന്ന് ഷാഫി പറമ്പില്‍ എം.പി കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്തി.

അങ്കമാലി തുറവൂര്‍ സെന്‍റ് മേരീസ് എല്‍പിഎസിന്‍റെ പുതിയ കെട്ടിടം ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്യാനെത്തിയപ്പോഴാണ് മന്ത്രി സര്‍ട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് കൈമാറിയത്. എം.എ. ഇസ്ലാമിക് ഹിസ്റ്ററിയിലെ ഒന്നാം റാങ്ക് ജേതാവ്  അജ്മി ബഷീര്‍ സര്‍ട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങി. ചോദ്യങ്ങള്‍ ചോദിക്കുക മാത്രമാണ് വിദ്യാർഥികൾ ചെയ്തതെന്നും ഒരു സംഘർഷവുമുണ്ടായിട്ടില്ലെന്നും  സിപിഎം സംസ്ഥാന സെക്രട്ടറി എം.വി. ഗോവിന്ദൻ ന്യായീകരിച്ചു.

എന്നാല്‍  എസ്എഫ്ഐക്ക് ചോദ്യങ്ങളൊന്നും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ലെന്ന് ഷാഫി പറമ്പില്‍ എം.പി. ആരോപിച്ചു. പരിപാടി അലങ്കോലപ്പെടുത്തുകയായിരുന്നു ലക്ഷ്യം. അച്ചടക്ക ലംഘനം നടത്തിയവര്‍ക്കെതിരെ നടപടി എടുക്കണമെന്നാവശ്യപ്പെട്ട് എംജി യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി സിന്റിക്കേറ്റ് അംഗം ആൻ സെബാസ്റ്റ്യൻ  പ്രിൻസിപ്പലിന് കത്തയച്ചു. 

മന്ത്രിയെ തടഞ്ഞ എസ്എഫ്ഐ പ്രവർത്തകർക്കെതിരെ കോളജ് ഗവേണിങ് കൗൺസിൽ നടപടി എടുത്തേക്കും.  വിസിക്ക് എതിരെ പ്രതിഷേധിച്ച് സസ്പെൻഷനിലായ കാലടി സംസ്കൃത സർവകലാശാലാ വിദ്യാർഥികളെ തിരിച്ചെടുക്കാത്തതിൽ പ്രതിഷേധിച്ചായിരുന്നു എസ്എഫ്ഐ മന്ത്രിയെ തടഞ്ഞത്.

The incident has triggered a sharp political confrontation between the CPI(M) and Congress, with CPI(M) State Secretary M.V. Govindan defending the students by claiming they only posed questions, while Shafi Parambil MP countered that SFI intentionally disrupted the event. Following the incident, MG University Syndicate member Ann Sebastian wrote to the college principal demanding disciplinary action, and the Maharajas College Governing Council is likely to take measures against the protesters. SFI had blocked the minister to protest against the Kalady Sanskrit University management for refusing to reinstate suspended students who had previously protested against the Vice Chancellor.
