‘ദ് വൺ ബിഗ്, ബ്യൂട്ടിഫുൾ’ ബില്‍ പാസാക്കി യുഎസ് ജനപ്രതിനിധി സഭ; 2026 ജനുവരി ഒന്നുമുതല്‍ പ്രാബല്യത്തില്‍

യുഎസിലെ പുതിയ ബജറ്റ് ബില്‍ ജനപ്രതിനിധി സഭ പാസാക്കി. രാത്രിവരെ സുദീര്‍ഘമായ ചര്‍ച്ചയ്ക്കുശേഷമായിരുന്നു അന്തിമ വോട്ടെടുപ്പ്.  പ്രസിഡന്റ് ഡോണള്‍ഡ് ട്രംപ് ഇന്ന് ഒപ്പുവയ്ക്കുന്നതോടെ ബില്‍ നിയമമാകും. ‘ദ് വൺ ബിഗ്, ബ്യൂട്ടിഫുൾ’ എന്നാണ് പുതിയ ബജറ്റ് ബില്ലിനെ ട്രംപ് വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. നികുതിഘടനയിലും, ബജറ്റ് വകയിരുത്തലുകളിലും കാതലായ മാറ്റം നിര്‍ദേശിക്കുന്നതാണ് പുതിയ നിയമം. ബില്‍ അടുത്തവര്‍ഷം ജനുവരി ഒന്നുമുതല്‍ നടപ്പാക്കാനാണ് നീക്കം.

യുഎസ് പൗരത്വമില്ലാത്തവർ രാജ്യത്തിനു പുറത്തേക്ക് പണമയയ്ക്കുമ്പോൾ 3.5 ശതമാനം നികുതി ഈടാക്കണമെന്ന നിര്‍ദേശം ഇന്ത്യക്കാരടക്കം പ്രവാസികള്‍ക്ക് തിരിച്ചടിയാകുമെന്നാണ് വിലയിരുത്തല്‍. റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കന്‍ പാര്‍ട്ടിയുടെ രാഷ്ട്രീയ ആത്മഹത്യയാണ് ഈ ബില്‍ എന്ന് വ്യവസായി ഇലോണ്‍ മസ്ക് വിമര്‍ശിച്ചിരുന്നു. സൈന്യത്തിനും അതിര്‍ത്തി സുരക്ഷയ്ക്കും കൂടുതല്‍ തുക ചെലവാക്കുന്ന പുതിയ നികുതി ബില്‍ യുഎസിന്‍റെ പൊതുകടം കുത്തനെ കൂട്ടുമെന്നും വിലയിരുത്തലുണ്ട്.
