സ്പേസ് എക്സിന്റെ ക്രൂ–11 ദൗത്യ സംഘം രാജ്യാന്തര ബഹിരാകാശ നിലയത്തില്‍നിന്ന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു. പുലര്‍ച്ചെ 3.30ന് ഡ്രാഗണ്‍ പേടകം ബഹിരാകാശ നിലയത്തില്‍നിന്ന് വേര്‍പെട്ടു. നാല് ദൗത്യ സംഘാംഗങ്ങളില്‍  ഒരാള്‍ക്ക് ഗുരുതര ആരോഗ്യ പ്രശ്നം ഉണ്ടായതോടെയാണ് ചരിത്രത്തില്‍ ആദ്യമായി മെഡിക്കല്‍ ഇവാക്യൂവേഷന്‍ നടത്തുന്നത്. ദൗത്യം പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കാന്‍ ഒരുമാസം ബാക്കി നില്‍ക്കെയാണ് സംഘം മടങ്ങുന്നത്. ഇന്ത്യന്‍ സമയം ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് 2.11 ന് കലിഫോര്‍ണിയന്‍ തീരത്ത് ഡ്രാഗണ്‍ പേടകം സ്പ്ലാഷ് ഡൗണ്‍ ചെയ്യും. നാസയുടെ വെബ്​സൈറ്റിലൂടെയും യൂട്യൂബിലൂടെയും സ്പ്ലാഷ്ഡൗണ്‍ ലൈവായി കാണാം.

ഓഗസ്റ്റിലാണ് ക്രൂ–11 ദൗത്യം രാജ്യാന്തര ബഹിരാകാശ നിലയത്തില്‍ എത്തിയത്. മിഷന്‍ കമാന്‍ഡര്‍ സീന മറിയ കാര്‍ഡ്മാന്‍, മിഷന്‍ പൈലറ്റ് മൈക്ക് ഫിന്‍കെ, കിമിയ യുയി (ജപ്പാന്‍) ഒലെഗ് പ്ലറ്റോനോവ് (റഷ്യ) എന്നിവരാണ് പേടകത്തിലുള്ളത്. ജനുവരി എട്ടിനാണ് ബഹിരാകാശ സഞ്ചാരികളില്‍ ഒരാള്‍ക്ക് ആരോഗ്യപ്രശ്നമുണ്ടായതായി നാസ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിയത്. അതേസമയം സ്വകാര്യത മാനിച്ച് ഇത് ആരാണെന്നോ അസുഖം എന്താണെന്നോ പുറത്തുവിട്ടിട്ടില്ല. ബഹിരാകാശ നിലയത്തില്‍ ചികില്‍സ നല്‍കുന്നതിനുള്ള പരിമിതികള്‍ കണക്കിലെടുത്താണ് ഭൂമിയിലേക്കാമെന്ന് നാസ തീരുമാനിച്ചത്. 

ബഹിരാകാശ പേടകത്തിന്‍റെ 25 വര്‍ഷത്തെ ചരിത്രത്തില്‍ ആദ്യമായാണ്  ആരോഗ്യപരമായ കാരണത്താല്‍ മുഴുവന്‍ സംഘാംഗങ്ങളെയും കാലാവധി പൂര്‍ത്തിയാകുന്നതിന് മുന്‍പ് തിരിച്ച് ഇറക്കുന്നത്. ഇവര്‍ ഭൂമിയിലേക്ക് തിരിച്ചതോടെ ബഹിരാകാശ നിലയത്തില്‍ നാസയുടെ ക്രിസ് വില്യംസും രണ്ട് റഷ്യന്‍ സ‍ഞ്ചാരികളും മാത്രമാണ് ഇനിയുള്ളത്.

NASA's Crew-11 mission is returning to Earth early following a medical emergency involving one of its four astronauts on the International Space Station. The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft successfully undocked from the ISS at 3:30 AM and is scheduled to splash down off the coast of California today at 2:11 PM. This marks the first medical evacuation in the 25-year history of the ISS where an entire crew returned before their tenure ended. The crew includes Commander Zena Cardman, Pilot Mike Fincke, Kimiya Yui from Japan, and Oleg Platonov from Russia. While the identity of the affected astronaut remains confidential, NASA decided on the evacuation due to limited medical facilities in space. Currently, only three astronauts remain onboard the ISS to continue vital operations until the next mission arrives.
