ആലപ്പുഴ കുട്ടനാട്ടിൽ മൂർഖന്റെ കടിയേറ്റ് വീട്ടമ്മ മരിച്ചു. വൈശ്യംഭാഗം പുതുവനയില്‍ ഇന്ദിര (65) ആണ് മരിച്ചത്. വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച വൈകിട്ട് അഞ്ചുമണിയോടെ വീട്ടിനോട് ചേർന്നുള്ള ശുചിമുറിക്ക് മുന്നിൽ വച്ചാണ് ഇവർക്ക് മൂർഖൻ പാമ്പിന്റെ കടിയേറ്റത്. അപകടം നടന്ന ഉടൻതന്നെ നാട്ടുകാർ ഇവരെ ആലപ്പുഴ വണ്ടാനം മെഡിക്കൽ കോളജ് ആശുപത്രിയിൽ എത്തിച്ചു. പാമ്പിൻ വിഷത്തിന് എതിരെയുള്ള ആന്റിവെനം നൽകിയെങ്കിലും ഇവരുടെ ജീവൻ രക്ഷിക്കാൻ സാധിച്ചില്ല. രാത്രി ഒന്‍പതരയോടെയാണ് മരണം സംഭവിച്ചത്. നിലവിൽ മൃതദേഹം വണ്ടാനം മെഡിക്കൽ കോളജ് ആശുപത്രിയിലെ മോർച്ചറിയിൽ സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്. നാളെ പോസ്റ്റ്‌മോർട്ടം നടപടികൾ പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയ ശേഷം മൃതദേഹം ബന്ധുക്കൾക്ക് വിട്ടുനൽകും. 

ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിൽ കഴിഞ്ഞ രണ്ടുദിവസത്തിനുള്ളിൽ പാമ്പുകടിയേറ്റ് സംഭവിക്കുന്ന രണ്ടാമത്തെ മരണമാണിത്. കഴിഞ്ഞദിവസം കായംകുളത്തും നാല്‍ത്തിരണ്ടുകാരിയായ മറ്റൊരു വീട്ടമ്മ സമാനമായ രീതിയിൽ പാമ്പുകടിയേറ്റ് മരിച്ചിരുന്നു.
