ഇടുക്കി തൊടുപുഴയിൽ മാലിന്യം പുഴയിലേക്ക് ഒഴുക്കിയ ആശുപത്രിക്ക് പിഴയിട്ട് നഗരസഭ. സ്മിത മെമ്മോറിയൽ ആശുപത്രിക്കാണ് 50,000 രൂപ പിഴയിട്ടത്.
കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം രാത്രിയിലാണ് ആശുപത്രിയിലെ മാലിന്യ നിർമാർജന പ്ലാന്റ് കഴുകിയ വെള്ളം തൊടുപുഴയാറിലേക്ക് ഒഴുക്കിയത്. കുളിക്കടവിലടക്കം മാലിന്യം അടിഞ്ഞതോടെ യൂത്ത് കോൺഗ്രസും DYFI യും പ്രതിഷേധവുമായി രംഗത്തെത്തി. നഗരസഭ ആരോഗ്യ വിഭാഗം നടത്തിയ പരിശോധനയിൽ വീഴ്ച കണ്ടെത്തിയതോടെയാണ് പിഴയിട്ടത്.
ആശുപത്രിക്കെതിരെ കൂടുതൽ നിയമനടപടി സ്വീകരിക്കും. പുഴയോരത്ത് പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിൽ പരിശോധന കർശനമാക്കനാണ് നഗരസഭയുടെ തീരുമാനം.
