കുറ്റപത്രം സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചിട്ട് രണ്ടുവര്‍ഷത്തിലേറെയായെങ്കിലും സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ സ്പെഷല്‍ പ്രോസിക്യൂട്ടറെ നിയമിക്കാത്തതിനാല്‍ വിചാരണ നീളുകയായിരുന്ന മുട്ടില്‍ മരംമുറിക്കേസ് അന്വേഷണത്തിന് വേഗം വര്‍ധിക്കുന്നു. പബ്ലിക് പ്രോസിക്യൂട്ടറെ നിയമിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള ശുപാർശയിൽ വി.ഡി.സതീശൻ സർക്കാർ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്ന നിലപാടാണ് ഇനി അന്വേഷണസംഘം ഉറ്റുനോക്കുന്നത്. ഭരണം മാറിയതോടെ ഇനി കേസില്‍ വേഗത്തില്‍ നടപടികള്‍ ഉണ്ടാകുമെന്നാണ് പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നത്. 

അതേസമയം, മരങ്ങളുടെ കണക്കെടുപ്പ് മഹസര്‍ അന്വേഷണ സംഘത്തലവന്‍ വി.വി.ബെന്നി കോടതിയില്‍ സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചു. വനംവകുപ്പ് പിടിച്ചെടുത്ത മരങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്ന് പോലും നശിച്ചിട്ടില്ലെന്നാണ് അന്വേഷണസംഘത്തിന്‍റെ കണ്ടെത്തല്‍. 112 മരങ്ങളുടെ 800 കഷ്ണങ്ങളാണ് ഡിപ്പോയില്‍ സൂക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്. പിടിച്ചെടുത്ത മരങ്ങള്‍ വനംവകുപ്പ് ലേലത്തില്‍ വില്‍ക്കുന്നതിന്‍റെ മുന്നോടിയായാണ് ബത്തേരി കോടതിയുടെ നിര്‍ദേശപ്രകാരം അന്വേഷണസംഘം വീണ്ടും കണക്കെടുപ്പ് നടത്തിയത്. ഇതിന്‍റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ കോടതി തുടര്‍നടപടികള്‍ സ്വീകരിക്കും. ഇന്ന് കേസ് വീണ്ടും കോടതി പരിഗണിക്കും. 

ആന്‍റോ അഗസ്റ്റിനും സഹോദരങ്ങളും അനധികൃതമായി മുറിച്ച 15 കോടിയിലധികം രൂപ വില വരുന്ന 112 മരങ്ങള്‍ വനംവകുപ്പിന്‍റേതാണെന്ന് വയനാട് അഡീഷണല്‍ ജില്ലാ കോടതി കണ്ടെത്തിയിരുന്നു. ആറ് വര്‍ഷമായി കുപ്പാടിയിലെ വനംവകുപ്പ് ഡിപ്പോയിലാണ് മരങ്ങള്‍. കാലപ്പഴക്കത്താല്‍ ഇവ നശിക്കുന്നുവെന്നായിരുന്നു വനം വകുപ്പിന്‍റെ വാദം. ഇതിന്‍റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലാണ് മരങ്ങള്‍ ലേലം ചെയ്യാന്‍ വനംവകുപ്പ് അനുമതി തേടിയത്. ആന്‍റോ അഗസ്റ്റിനെ കൂടാതെ സഹോദരങ്ങളായ റോജി അഗസ്റ്റിന്‍‍‍, ജോസുകുട്ടി അഗസ്റ്റിന്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ കേസിലെ മുഖ്യപ്രതികളാണ്.

Benny submitted a comprehensive inventory report to the Sulthan Bathery court, confirming that all 800 logs retrieved from 112 illegally felled trees remain perfectly intact. These timber assets, valued at over ₹15 crores, were formally declared as government property by the Wayanad Additional District Court and have been stored at the Kuppadi forest depot for the past six years. Prompted by warnings from the Forest Department that prolonged storage could cause the timber to decay, the local court ordered this structural recount to clear the path for an official public auction, a matter scheduled for further judicial review today.
