പ്രായത്തിന്റെ അവശത മറന്ന്, എൺപത്തൊൻപതിന്റെ നിറവിൽ സാവിത്രിയമ്മ കലോത്സവ വേദിയിലെത്തി. വീൽചെയറിലിരുന്ന് തിരുവാതിരയുടെ ലാസ്യഭംഗി ആവോളം നുകർന്നു. കലയ്ക്ക് പ്രായമില്ലെന്ന്  തെളിയിച്ചു. മനംനിറഞ്ഞ പുഞ്ചിരിയോടെയാണ് അമ്മ മടങ്ങിയത്. 

 ആവേശത്തിനിടയിൽ വേദിയുടെ മുൻനിരയിൽ വീൽചെയറിലിരുന്ന 89-കാരി ഉള്ളുനിറയ്ക്കുന്ന കാഴ്ചയായി. പണ്ട് എന്നോ ആടിയ തിരുവാതിരച്ചുവടുകളുടെ ഓർമ്മകളിൽ, മകനൊപ്പം എത്തിയ സാവിത്രിയമ്മയുടെ കണ്ണുകളിൽ കലയോടുള്ള അടങ്ങാത്ത മോഹമായിരുന്നു. കാലമിത്ര പിന്നിട്ടിട്ടും മായാത്ത ബാല്യകാല ഓർമകളായിരിക്കാം സാവിത്രി അമ്മയുടെ ചിരിക്ക് പിന്നിൽ.

യാത്രകളാണ് സാവിത്രിയമ്മയ്ക്ക് എന്നും ഇഷ്ടം, കലാസ്വാധനം സന്തോഷവും. സൂര്യകാന്തി വേദിയിൽ നിന്ന് അമ്മ മടങ്ങുമ്പോൾ മനസ്സ് കൊണ്ട് ആ പഴയ 18-കാരിയായിരുന്നു. എന്നോ കളിച്ച് മറന്ന ചുവടുകളുടെ ഈണം ഒരിക്കൽ കൂടി ഉള്ളിൽ മീട്ടിയാണ് ആ അമ്മ മടങ്ങിയത്.
