തമിഴ്നാട് തിരുവള്ളൂരില്‍ ഭര്‍ത്താവ് എസി വാങ്ങി നല്‍കാത്തതില്‍ മനംനൊന്ത് യുവതി ജീവനൊടുക്കി. തിരുവള്ളൂരിന് സമീപത്തെ ഗ്രാമത്തില്‍ താമസിക്കുന്ന 25കാരി മോണിക്കയാണ് മരിച്ചത്. കടുത്ത ചൂടിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് മോണിക്ക ഭര്‍ത്താവ് ആകാശിനോട് എസി വാങ്ങിനല്‍കാന്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെടുകയായിരുന്നു. 

 

എന്നാല്‍ ഭര്‍ത്താവ് ആവശ്യം നിരസിച്ചു. ഇതില്‍ മനംനൊന്താണ്   രാത്രി ആകാശും കുടുംബവും ടെറസില്‍ ഉറങ്ങാന്‍ പോയപ്പോള്‍ യുവതി കിടപ്പുമുറിയില്‍ ആത്മഹത്യ ചെയ്തത്.  പിറ്റേദിവസം രാവിലെ മുറിയിലെത്തിയ ആകാശാണ് മോണികയുടെ മൃതദേഹം കണ്ടത്. പൊലീസെത്തി മൃതദേഹം തിരുവള്ളൂര്‍ മെഡിക്കല്‍ കോളജ് ആശുപത്രിയിലേക്ക് മാറ്റി.  തിരുവള്ളൂരിലെ ടെക്സറ്റൈല്‍സ് ഷോപ്പ് ജീവനക്കാരനാണ് ആകാശ്.

 

മകളുടെ മരണത്തിൽ അസ്വാഭാവികതയുണ്ടെന്ന് മാതാപിതാക്കൾ  ആരോപിച്ചതിന്റെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിൽ, പൊലീസ് അസ്വാഭാവിക മരണത്തിന് കേസെടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. മോണിക്ക വസ്ത്ര വില്‍പനശാലയിലെ ജീവനക്കാരിയായിരുന്നു. ആകാശും അവിടെത്തന്നെയാണ് ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. മൂന്ന് വർഷം മുൻപാണ് ഇരുവരും പ്രണയിച്ച് വിവാഹിതരായത്.
