കടുത്ത മാനസിക സമ്മര്‍ദം താങ്ങാന്‍ കഴിയാതെ പിഎച്ച്ഡി വിദ്യാര്‍ഥി ജീവനൊടുക്കി. ഐഐടി കാന്‍പുറിലെ എര്‍ത്ത് സയന്‍സ് വിദ്യാര്‍ഥിയായ രവിസ്വരൂപം ഈശ്വര(25)മാണ് ജീവനൊടുക്കിയത്. ഇന്നലെ ഉച്ചയോടെ കോളജ് ക്യാംപസ് കെട്ടിടത്തിന്‍റെ ആറാം നിലയില്‍ നിന്ന് രവി ചാടുകയായിരുന്നു. മൂന്ന് മാസം ഗര്‍ഭിണിയായ ഭാര്യയും മകളുമാണ് രവിക്കുള്ളത്. ഉത്കണ്ഠയ്ക്കും വിഷാദത്തിനും ചികില്‍സയിലായിരുന്ന രവിക്ക് രണ്ട് വര്‍ഷം മുന്‍പ് സ്കിസോഫ്രീനിയ സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചിരുന്നു. 

രാജസ്ഥാനിലെ ചുരു സ്വദേശിയായ രവി 2023 ജൂലൈയിലാണ് പിഎച്ച്ഡിക്ക് ഐഐടി കാന്‍പുരില്‍ എത്തിയത്. മാനസിക സമ്മര്‍ദത്തിന് രവി ചികില്‍സയിലായിരുന്നു. തിങ്കളാഴ്ചയും ഡോക്ടറെ കണ്ടിരുന്നു. ഇന്നലെ വൈകുന്നേരം കൗണ്‍സിലറുമായി കൂടിക്കാഴ്ച നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇതിന് മണിക്കൂറുകള്‍ മാത്രം ശേഷിക്കെയാണ് രവി ജീവനൊടുക്കിയത്. ഉടന്‍ തന്നെ ആശുപത്രിയില്‍ എത്തിച്ചുവെങ്കിലും മരണം സംഭവിച്ചിരുന്നു. കുറച്ച് ദിവസങ്ങളായി രവി കടുത്ത വിഷാദത്തിലായിരുന്നുവെന്ന് സുഹൃത്തുക്കള്‍ പറയുന്നു. രവിയുടെ മരണത്തില്‍ കാന്‍പുര്‍ ഐഐടി അനുശോചനം രേഖപ്പെടുത്തി. 

ഡിസംബര്‍ 29ന് ക്യാംപസിലെ ബിടെക് വിദ്യാര്‍ഥിയായ ജയ് സിങ് മീണയും ജീവനൊടുക്കിയിരുന്നു. രാജ്യത്തെ 23 ഐഐടികളിലായി രണ്ടുവര്‍ഷത്തിനിടെ 30 പേര്‍ ജീവനൊടുക്കിയെന്നാണ് കണക്ക്. ഇതില്‍ ഒന്‍പത് മരണങ്ങള്‍ ഐഐടി കാന്‍പുരിലാണ്. ഐഐടികളിലെ വിദ്യാര്‍ഥികളുടെ മാനസികാരോഗ്യം സംരക്ഷിക്കാനുള്ള നടപടികള്‍ വൈകിക്കൂടെന്ന് വിദ്യാര്‍ഥി സംഘടനകള്‍ ആവശ്യമുയര്‍ത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
