തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് പരിചയത്തിലായ യുവതിയെ വിവാഹവാഗ്ദാനം നല്‍കി കഴിഞ്ഞ ഡിസംബര്‍ അവസാനം സുഹൃത്തുക്കളെ പരിചയപ്പെടുത്താനെന്ന വ്യാജേന ഇയാളുടെ കാറില്‍ കടുത്തുരുത്തി എഴുമാന്തുരുത്തിലുള്ള സ്വകാര്യകേന്ദ്രത്തിലെത്തിച്ച് പീഡിപ്പിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. 

ഏപ്രില്‍, മേയ് മാസങ്ങളില്‍ രണ്ടുദിവസം ചങ്ങനാശ്ശേരിയിലുള്ള ഹോട്ടലിലെത്തിച്ച് പീഡിപ്പിച്ചു. പിന്നീട് യുവതിയുടെ നഗ്‌നവീഡിയോകളും ഫോട്ടോയും ഭര്‍ത്താവിനും ബന്ധുക്കള്‍ക്കും അയച്ചുകൊടുക്കുമെന്നും സാമൂഹികമാധ്യമങ്ങളിലൂടെ പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കുമെന്നും ഭീഷണിപ്പെടുത്തി യുവതിയുടെ 15 പവന്‍ സ്വര്‍ണ്ണാഭരണങ്ങള്‍ കൈക്കലാക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

A man identified as Shijin, from Venkimala, Vembayam, Thiruvananthapuram, has been arrested by Kerala police. He is accused of raping a woman under the guise of a marriage promise and then extorting 15 sovereigns of gold jewelry from her. The victim, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, alleges that Shijin first assaulted her in Kaduthuruthy in late December after luring her there to "introduce friends." He then reportedly assaulted her again in a hotel in Changanassery in April and May. Subsequently, he threatened to send her nude videos and photos to her husband and relatives, and circulate them on social media, to coerce her into handing over the gold.
