Cochin Shipyard and Dubai-based Drydocks World have signed an agreement to form a joint venture valued at ₹1,800 crore, with the aim of making the region a major hub for ship repair. The joint venture will be formed to operate and develop the International Ship Repair Facility under Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) at Willingdon Island. Both companies will hold a 50% stake each in the venture. A representative of Drydocks World will serve as the CEO. Drydocks World CEO Captain Rado Antolovic and CSL CMD V.J. Jose signed the agreement at a ceremony in Delhi. The signing took place in the presence of Union Ports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and UAE Deputy Foreign Minister Omran Sharaf Alhashimi.
