സ്റ്റാര്‍ഷിപ് റോക്കറ്റ് സംവിധാനത്തിന്‍റെ പരീക്ഷണം വിജയകരമായി പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കി സ്പേസ് എക്സ്. ഇന്ത്യന്‍ സമുദ്രത്തില്‍ നടത്തിയ സ്പ്ലാഷ് ഡൗണില്‍ പക്ഷേ പേടകം തീ പിടിച്ച് കത്തിയമര്‍ന്നു. എന്‍ജിനുകളിലൊന്ന് തകരാറിലായതടക്കം സാങ്കേതിക തകരാറുകള്‍ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് ചെയ്തുവെങ്കിലും ദൗത്യം വിജയകരമായിരുന്നുവെന്ന് കമ്പനി വ്യക്തമാക്കി. പ്രാദേശിക സമയം രാവിലെ 5.30ഓടെയാണ് സ്റ്റാര്‍ഷിപിന്‍റെ മൂന്നാംതലമുറ പേടകം സ്പേസ് എക്സ് വിക്ഷേപിച്ചത്.

സൂപ്പര്‍ ഹെവി ബൂസ്റ്റര്‍ ആദ്യഘട്ടത്തില്‍ പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചത് പോലെ വേര്‍പെട്ടുവെന്നും എന്നാല്‍ ബൂസ്റ്റ് ബാകില്‍ ഇത് പരാജയപ്പെട്ടുവെന്നും സ്പേസ് എക്സ് വക്താവ് ഡാന്‍ ഹ്യോട്ട് പറഞ്ഞു. ബൂസ്റ്റര്‍ തിരികെ ഭൂമിയിലേക്ക് നിയന്ത്രണാതീതമായി പതിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. മെക്സികോ കടലിടുക്കിലാണ് ഇത് വീണത്. ബൂസ്റ്റര്‍ വീണ്ടെടുക്കാന്‍ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നില്ലെന്നും കമ്പനി അറിയിച്ചു.
