ലോകകപ്പില്‍ ആവേശപ്പോരാട്ടം പുറത്തെടുക്കുകയാണ് കാബോ വെര്‍ദേ. യുറുഗ്വായെ സമനില (2–2)യില്‍ തളച്ചാണ് ലോകകപ്പിലെ പോരാട്ടം വെര്‍ദേ തുടര്‍ന്നത്. ആദ്യ മല്‍സരത്തില്‍ സ്പെയിനെതിരെയും വെര്‍ദേ സമനില നേടിയിരുന്നു.

The Cape Verde national football team continued their incredible, giant-killing run in the FIFA World Cup by holding South American powerhouse Uruguay to a thrilling 2-2 draw. This remarkable result comes right after the African underdogs pulled off another stunning draw against European heavyweights Spain in their tournament opener. Midfielder Kevin Pina opened the scoring for Cape Verde in the twenty-first minute with an absolutely spectacular long-range free kick. Uruguay quickly mounted a fierce response, surging ahead with clinical goals from Maxi Araujo and Agustin Canobio to take a temporary lead. However, Cape Verde found their crucial equalizer in the sixtieth minute when substitute Helio Varela capitalised on a defensive mix-up between Sanabria and Olivera to slot home. Following this high-octane stalemated encounter, both Uruguay and Cape Verde sit with two points each in Group H, trailing behind group leaders Spain.
