ഫിഫ ലോകകപ്പിലെ ആദ്യ മല്‍സരത്തില്‍ ആതിഥേയരായ മെക്സിക്കോയ്ക്ക് ജയം. തിങ്ങി നിറഞ്ഞ ആരാധകരെ സാക്ഷിയാക്കി ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കയെ 2–0ത്തിനാണ് മെക്സിക്കോ തോല്‍പ്പിച്ചത്. ആദ്യപകുതിയുടെ ഒന്‍പതാം മിനിറ്റില്‍ ഹുലിയന്‍ കിന്യോണിസാണ് മെക്സിക്കോയ്ക്കായി ആദ്യം ഗോള്‍വല ചലിപ്പിച്ചത്. രണ്ടാം പകുതിയില്‍ ബുള്ളറ്റ് ഹെഡറിലൂടെ സ്ട്രൈക്കര്‍ റൗള്‍ ഹിമെനെസും ആധിപത്യം ഉറപ്പിച്ചു.
