സിപിഎം ഭരിക്കുന്ന സഹകരണ ബാങ്കിന് മുന്നിൽ സിഐടിയു നേതാവിന്റെ സത്യഗ്രഹം. അകാരണമായി പീഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നെന്ന് കാട്ടി തിരുവല്ല ഈസ്റ്റ് കോ-ഓപ്പറേറ്റീവ് ബാങ്കിന് മുന്നിലാണ് സീനിയർ ക്ലർക്കായ ഇ.എ. എബ്രഹാമും ഭാര്യയും സമരം ചെയ്യുന്നത്. അതേസമയം നടപടി ചട്ടപ്രകാരമാണെന്ന് ബാങ്ക് അധികൃതർ വിശദീകരിച്ചു.

കഴിഞ്ഞ 30 വർഷമായി തിരുവല്ല ഈസ്റ്റ് കോ ഓപ്പറേറ്റീവ് ബാങ്കിൽ സീനിയർ ക്ലാർക്കായി ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നയാളാണ് കോട്ടയം നെടുങ്കുന്നം സ്വദേശി ഇ.എ എബ്രഹാം. ചട്ടവിരുദ്ധമായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ച എംഡിയെ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്തത് മുതൽ പീഡനം നേരിടുകയാണെന്ന് എബ്രഹാം പറയുന്നു. രണ്ടുവർഷമായി ആനുകൂല്യങ്ങൾ നൽകുന്നില്ല. ഹൈക്കോടതി ഉത്തരവുണ്ടായിട്ടും ജോലി ചെയ്യാൻ പോലും സമ്മതിക്കുന്നില്ല. ഭാര്യയും വിദ്യാർഥികളായ രണ്ട് മക്കളും അടങ്ങുന്ന കുടുംബത്തിനെ പട്ടിണിയിലാക്കുകയാണ് ബാങ്ക് എന്ന് ശാരീരിക വെല്ലുവിളികൾ നേരിടുന്ന എബ്രഹാം.

ബാങ്കിനെ അപകീർത്തിപ്പെടുത്തിയതിനാലാണ് നടപടി എന്നാണ് ബാങ്കിൻ്റെ വിശദീകരണം. അന്വേഷണം നടക്കുന്നതായും ബാങ്ക് പ്രസിഡൻറ് പറഞ്ഞു. സിപിഎം ജില്ലാ സെക്രട്ടറിക്കും സംസ്ഥാന സെക്രട്ടറിയേറ്റ് അംഗങ്ങൾക്കും പരാതി കൊടുത്തിട്ടും നടപടിയാകാത്തതിനാൽ കൂടുതൽ പ്രതിഷേധവുമായി മുന്നോട്ടു പോകാനാണ് എബ്രഹാമിന്റെ തീരുമാനം.

A senior clerk and CITU leader, E.A. Abraham, along with his wife, is staging a Satyagraha (protest fast) in front of the Thiruvalla East Co-operative Bank, which is governed by the CPM. Abraham, who has worked at the bank for 30 years, alleges that he has been facing unwarranted harassment and victimisation since he questioned the Managing Director's illegal actions. He claims that he has been denied benefits for two years and is prevented from working despite a High Court order, which is starving his family, including his two children. The Bank authorities, however, stated that the action taken against him was justified and in accordance with the rules, as he had allegedly defamed the bank. Abraham plans further protests as his complaints to CPM district and state secretariat members have not resulted in any action.
