കൊട്ടാരക്കര മുന്‍ എംഎൽഎ ഐഷാ പോറ്റി കോൺഗ്രസിൽ ചേർന്നതിന് പിന്നാലെ സിപിഎം ജില്ലാകമ്മിറ്റി അംഗം മുസ്ലിം ലീഗിൽ ചേർന്നു. സിപിഐഎം കൊല്ലം ജില്ലാ കമ്മിറ്റിയംഗമായ സുജ ചന്ദ്ര ബാബുവാണ് സിപിഎം വിട്ട് ലീഗിൽ ചേർന്നത്. മന്ത്രി സജി ചെറിയാന്റെ വിവാദ പ്രസ്താവനയ്ക്ക് പിന്നാലെ ജില്ലാ കമ്മിറ്റി അംഗം തന്നെ മുസ്ലിം ലീഗിൽ ചേർന്നത് സിപിഎമ്മിന് കനത്ത തിരിച്ചടിയായി.

സുജാചന്ദ്രബാബു മൂന്നുതവണ അഞ്ചൽ ഗ്രാമപഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റ്  ഒരുതവണ അഞ്ചൽ ബ്ലോക്ക് പഞ്ചായത്ത് സ്റ്റാൻഡിങ് കമ്മിറ്റി ചെയർപേഴ്സൺ, സിപിഎം പോഷക സംഘടനകളുടെ ജില്ലാ സെക്രട്ടറി പദവി വരെ വഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. കൊല്ലത്തു മുസ്ലിം ലീഗ് സംസ്ഥാന പ്രസിഡണ്ട് പാണക്കാട് സെയ്ദ് സാദിഖലി ഷിഹാബ് തങ്ങളാണ് അംഗത്വം നൽകി അഞ്ചൽ സ്വദേശിയായ സുജയെ പാർട്ടിയിലേക്ക് സ്വീകരിച്ചത്.
