വടക്കാഞ്ചേരി മുൻ എംഎൽഎയും കെപിസിസി ജനറൽ സെക്രട്ടറിയുമായ അനിൽ അക്കര പഞ്ചായത്ത് തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൽ മത്സരിക്കും. അടാട്ട് പഞ്ചായത്തിലെ 15-ാം വാർഡിൽ നിന്നാണ് അനിൽ അക്കര ജനവിധി തേടുന്നത്. 2003-2010 കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ അനിൽ അക്കര അടാട്ട് പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റായിരുന്നു
2016-ൽ വടക്കാഞ്ചേരിയിൽ നിന്ന് തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടാണ് അനിൽ അക്കര നിയമസഭാംഗമായത്. പക്ഷേ, 2021-ൽ സി.പി.എം ഈ മണ്ഡലം തിരിച്ചുപിടിച്ചു. അന്ന് സി.പി.എം സ്ഥാനാർത്ഥിയായിരുന്ന സേവ്യർ ചിറ്റിലപ്പള്ളിയോടാണ് അനിൽ അക്കര പരാജയപ്പെട്ടത്. എഐസിസി സെക്രട്ടറിയായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരുന്ന അനിലിനെ അടുത്ത കാലത്താണ് കെപിസിസി ജനറൽ സെക്രട്ടറിയായി നിയമിച്ചത്.
