The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation has officially decided to affix distinctive 'Priyadarshini' scheme stickers on all ordinary buses to help women easily identify free transit services. This strategic step was taken because both ordinary and City Fast services feature identical body paint, which could potentially cause boarding confusion among everyday female commuters. The transport department clarified that the flagship free travel benefit is strictly limited to ordinary buses, while regular ticket fares will apply on all City Fast schedules. A comprehensive government order detailing the complete operational guidelines and eligibility framework for the transport subsidy is scheduled to be released today. However, public transport experts have raised concerns regarding the practical reach of the scheme within major urban centers like Thiruvananthapuram, where the higher frequency of non-eligible City Fast buses dominates local routes. Meanwhile, Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, along with ministers K. Muraleedharan, C.P. John, Bindu Krishna, and K.A. Thulasi, will inaugurate the venture on Monday by taking a ceremonial ride from Thampanoor to the Secretariat on a newly labeled bus bound for Perumathura.
