കോഴിക്കോട് കൊയിലാണ്ടി മണക്കുളങ്ങര ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഉല്‍സവത്തിനിടെ ആന ഇടഞ്ഞു. തിക്കിലും തിരക്കിലും മൂന്ന് പേര്‍ മരിച്ചു. മരിച്ചത് അമ്മുക്കുട്ടി (70), ലീല (65), രാജന്‍ എന്നിവരാണ്. 33 പേര്‍ക്ക് പരുക്കേറ്റു.  ഇടഞ്ഞ ആന മറ്റൊരു ആനയെ കുത്തി. തുടര്‍ന്ന് രണ്ടാനകളും ഇടഞ്ഞോടി.  പീതാംബരന്‍, ഗോകുല്‍ എന്നീ ആനകളാണ് ഇടഞ്ഞത്. 

പരുക്കേറ്റവരെ കൊയിലാണ്ടി താലൂക്ക് ആശുപത്രിയില്‍ പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചു. ഗുരുതരമായി പരുക്കേറ്റ ഏഴുപേരെ കോഴിക്കോട് മെഡി. കോളജിലേക്ക് മാറ്റി.  ക്ഷേത്രപരിസരത്തെ ഓഫിസും തകര്‍ത്തു. ആനകള്‍ ഇടഞ്ഞതോടെ ആളുകള്‍ പരിഭ്രാന്തരായി ഓടിയെന്ന് പഞ്ചായത്തംഗം ഷിജു പറഞ്ഞു. പടക്കം പൊട്ടിച്ചതിന്റെ ശബ്ദം കേട്ടാണ് ആന വിരണ്ടതെന്നും  പഞ്ചായത്തംഗം പറഞ്ഞു.

Elephants ran amok during the festival at Manakkulangara Temple in Koyilandy, Kozhikode. MLA Kanathil Jameela confirmed that two people have died, and around 34 others were injured. The enraged elephant attacked another elephant, leading both to go on a rampage. The elephants, named Peethambaran and Gokul, caused chaos, damaging the temple office. Panchayat member Shiju stated that as soon as the elephants went berserk, people panicked and ran for safety.
