അതിനിടെ, യുഎസിലെ സാൻഫ്രാൻസിസ്കോയിൽനിന്ന് മുംബൈയിലേക്ക് പുറപ്പെട്ട വിമാനത്തിന്‍റെ ഒരു എന്‍ജിനില്‍ തകരാര്‍ കണ്ടെത്തി. ഇതോടെ വിമാനം കൊല്‍ക്കത്തയിലിറക്കി. കഴിഞ്ഞ രണ്ട് ദിവസത്തിനിടെ റദ്ദാക്കിയ എയര്‍ ഇന്ത്യ വിമാനങ്ങളുടെ എണ്ണം ഒന്‍പതായി ഉയര്‍ന്നു. എയര്‍ ഇന്ത്യ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന ബോയിങ് നിര്‍മിത 787 - 8, 9 വിമാനങ്ങളില്‍ അധിക സുരക്ഷാ പരിശോധന നടത്തണമെന്നാണ് ഡി.ജി.സി.എ നിര്‍ദേശം നല്‍കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. പരിശോധന നടത്തേണ്ടതിനാല്‍ ചില സര്‍വീസുകളില്‍ തടസ്സം നേരിട്ടേക്കുമെന്ന് എയര്‍ ഇന്ത്യ അറിയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
