ഇന്തൊനേഷ്യയിലെ സുമാത്രക്ക് സമീപം ഇന്ത്യന്‍മഹാസമൂദ്രത്തില്‍ ശക്തമായ ഭൂചലനം. 6.5 തീവ്രത രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയ പ്രകമ്പനം രാവിലെ 10 മണികഴിഞ്ഞ് 26 മിനിറ്റിലാണ് ഉണ്ടായത്. ഏകദേശം 32 കിലോമീറ്റർ ആഴത്തിലാണ് പ്രഭവകേന്ദ്രം. ഇതുവരെ കാര്യമായ നാശനഷ്ടങ്ങള്‍ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല. കേരളതീരത്ത് അപകട സാധ്യതയില്ല. സുനാമി മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് എവിടെയും പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. ആന്‍ഡമാന്‍ നിക്കോബര്‍ ദ്വീപുകളില്‍ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കണമെന്ന നിര്‍ദേശം നല്‍കിയതായി ദേശീയ സമുദ്ര ഗവേഷണ കേന്ദ്രം അറിയിച്ചു.

An earthquake measuring 6.3 magnitude struck off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, near Simeulue, at 11:56 AM local time. The epicenter was located at a depth of approximately 32 kilometers.
