സംസ്ഥാന സ്കൂൾ കായിക മേളയിൽ പോൾവോൾട്ട് മത്സരത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കാൻ മുളയിൽ പരിശീലനം നടത്തുകയാണ് പത്തനംതിട്ട കോഴഞ്ചേരി സ്വദേശി ഷിന്റോ സൈമൺ. മുളയിൽ മത്സരിച്ചാണ് ജില്ലയിൽ ഷിന്റോ ഒന്നാം സ്ഥാനം നേടിയത്. ഷിന്റോ പഠിക്കുന്ന കൊഴഞ്ചേരി സെന്റ് തോമസ് സ്കൂൾ അധികൃതർ ഫൈബർ പോൾ വാങ്ങി നൽകാമെന്ന് വാഗ്ദാനം നൽകിയെങ്കിലും സംസ്ഥാന തലത്തിലേക്കുള്ള മത്സരത്തിന് പരിശീലനം മുടക്കാനാകില്ല.

പരിശീലനത്തിനുള്ള പോളിനായി പത്തനംതിട്ട മാരാമൺ തൊടുവെയിൽ സ്വദേശി ഷിന്റോ സൈമൺ വീടിനടുത്തുള്ള മുള വെട്ടിയാണെടുത്തു. ഈ മുള രണ്ട് ദിവസം വെയിലത്തു വച്ച് ഉണക്കിയാണ് പരിശീലനത്തിന് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത്. മറ്റ് കുട്ടികൾ ഒരുലക്ഷം രൂപയോളം വരുന്ന ഫൈബർ പോളിൽ മത്സരിക്കുമ്പോൾ മുളക്കമ്പ് കുത്തി ചാടിയാണ് ഷിന്റോ സൈമൺ ജില്ലയിൽ ഒന്നാം സ്ഥാനം നേടിയത്.

പ്ലസ് വൻ വിദ്യാർഥിയായ ഷിന്റോ ഹയർ സെക്കൻഡറി ജൂനിയർ പോൾവോൾട്ട് വിഭാഗത്തിലാണ് മത്സരിക്കുന്നത്. ജില്ലയിൽ ഒന്നാം സ്ഥാനം ലഭിച്ചപ്പോൾ ഷിന്റോ പഠിക്കുന്ന കോഴഞ്ചേരി സെന്റ് തോമസ് സ്കൂൾ അധികൃതർ ഫൈബർ പോൾ വാങ്ങി നല്കാമെന്ന് വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. പുതിയ പോൾ ലഭിക്കുന്നതുവരെ മുളയിൽ പരിശീലിക്കാനാണ് തീരുമാനം. ഫൈബർ പോൾ ലഭിച്ചാൽ കൂടുതൽ ഉയരത്തിൽ ചാടാൻ കഴിയുമെന്നാണ് ഷിന്റോ പറയുന്നത്. 25 ന് കോഴിക്കോടാണ് സംസ്ഥാന സ്കൂൾ കായിക മേള ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്.

To prepare for the upcoming state school sports meet starting in Kozhikode on October 25, Shinto cuts and sun-dries bamboo sticks near his Maramon Thoduveyil home for practice. Although the management of St. Thomas School, where Shinto studies, has promised to purchase a professional fiberglass pole for him following his district-level victory, he continues his bamboo training so as not to interrupt his preparation.
