കൊച്ചിയിൽ പഴകിയ ഭക്ഷണം പിടികൂടുമ്പോൾ നഗരസഭയുടെ മൊബൈൽ ഫുഡ് ടെസ്റ്റിംഗ് ലാബ് കട്ടപുറത്താണ്. രണ്ട് വർഷം മുൻപ് ലഭിച്ച ടെസ്റ്റിംഗ് യൂണിറ്റാണ് ഇപ്പോഴും ഉപയോഗിക്കാതെ കിടക്കുന്നത്. യൂണിറ്റ് പ്രവർത്തനം ആരംഭിക്കാത്തതിനെതിരെ നഗരസഭ പ്രതിപക്ഷം പ്രതിഷേധിച്ചു.

ഐ.സി.ഐ.സി.ഐ ഫൗണ്ടേഷൻ സി എസ് ആർ ഫണ്ട് ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് കൊച്ചി കോർപറേഷന് മൊബൈൽ ഫുഡ് ടെസ്റ്റിംഗ് ലാബ് നൽകിയത്. രണ്ട് വർഷം മുൻപ് ലഭിച്ച യൂണിറ്റ് ഇപ്പോഴും പ്രവർത്തന രഹിതമാണ്. നാല്പത് ലക്ഷം രൂപ മുടക്കിയാണ് ഐ.സി.ഐ.സി.ഐ ഫൗണ്ടേഷൻ യൂണിറ്റ് സജ്ജമാക്കിയത്. 

സുരക്ഷിതമല്ലാത്ത ഭക്ഷണങ്ങൾ വിപണിയിൽ സുലഭം ആകുമ്പോൾ ഭക്ഷണം, വെള്ളം, എണ്ണ തുടങ്ങിയവ പരിശോധിക്കുന്നതിന് മൊബൈൽ ലബോറട്ടറിയിൽ സൗകര്യമുണ്ട്. മൊബൈൽ ടെസ്റ്റിംഗ് യൂണിറ്റ് ഉപയോഗിക്കാൻ കഴിയാത്തത് നഗരസഭയുടെ പിടിപ്പുകേടാണെന്നും പ്രതിപക്ഷം ആരോപിക്കുന്നു.
