Chief Minister VD Satheesan has brought significant financial relief to state government employees and pensioners by confirming that Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) payouts will be distributed systematically without any disruptions. Presenting the revised state budget for the 2026-27 fiscal, the Chief Minister also assured the assembly that an appropriate and favorable resolution regarding the long-pending leave surrender arrears would be formulated soon. Alongside these financial assurances, the provincial administration announced plans to comprehensively revamp and upgrade MEDISEP, the flagship health insurance scheme tailored for state workers and retirees. Pointing out significant ambiguities in the "Assured Pension Scheme" proposed by the previous cabinet, Satheesan noted that the current regime will carefully review the existing National Pension System (NPS) to implement structured modifications. Furthermore, the newly formed government is ready to launch a specialized administrative modernization initiative aimed at transforming the state secretariat into one of the country's most efficient public offices. This strategic institutional overhaul will place a high priority on performance benchmarking to drastically enhance the professional productivity and service delivery of state bureaucrats.
