സംസ്ഥാന ചലച്ചിത്ര അവാര്ഡ് പ്രഖ്യാപനത്തിന് മുമ്പ് അദ്ദേഹം ചുമതലേല്ക്കും. നേരത്തെ തന്നെ റസൂല് പൂക്കുട്ടി ചെയര്മാനാകുമെന്ന് സൂചനകളുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
