കാട്ടാനകളെ തുരത്തി വയനാട് ബത്തേരി നഗരത്തിന് കാവലിരിക്കുകയാണ് കുങ്കി ആനകളായ സുരേന്ദ്രനും പ്രമുഖനും. ജലസേചന വകുപ്പിന്റെ കാരാപ്പുഴ ക്വാർട്ടേഴ്സ് മതിൽ തകർത്ത് കഴിഞ്ഞ ബുധനാഴ്ചയെത്തിയ കാട്ടാന KSRTC ബസ്റ്റാന്റ് വരേ എത്തിയതോടെയാണ് വമ്പൻമാരെ വെച്ചുള്ള വനംവകുപ്പിന്റെ ദൗത്യം. കൊമ്പനായ സുരേന്ദ്രനും മോഴയായ പ്രമുഖും തീർത്ത വലയത്തിലൂടെ കാട്ടാനകൾ പുറത്തിറിങ്ങില്ലെന്നാണ് വനപാലകർ പറയുന്നത്.
ENGLISH SUMMARY:
In a significant effort to protect Bathery town in Wayanad, the Forest Department has deployed kumki elephants, Surendra and Prominent, to chase away wild elephants. The wild elephants had breached the Karappuzha quarters wall and reached the KSRTC bus stand last Wednesday. Forest officials believe the elephants will not venture out of the trap set by the kumki elephants.
