ജാർഖണ്ഡില്‍ രക്തം സ്വീകരിച്ച അഞ്ച് കുട്ടികൾക്ക് എച്ച്ഐവി സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചു. ചായ്‌ബാസയിലെ സർക്കാർ ആശുപത്രിയിലാണ് സംഭവം. ബ്ലഡ് ബാങ്കിൽ ഗുരുതര ക്രമക്കേട് നടന്നുവെന്നാണ് പ്രാഥമിക കണ്ടെത്തൽ. രക്ത സാമ്പിൾ ടെസ്റ്റ്‌ നടത്തുന്നില്ലെന്നും, മതിയായ രേഖകൾ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നില്ലെന്നും അന്വേഷണത്തില്‍ കണ്ടെത്തി. സംഭവത്തില്‍ ജാര്‍ഖണ്ഡ് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ അന്വേഷണത്തിന് ഉത്തരവിട്ടു. ആരോഗ്യ വകുപ്പ് ഡയറക്ടർ ഡോ. ദിനേഷ് കുമാറിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള അഞ്ച് അംഗസംഘം അന്വേഷണം തുടങ്ങി. 

വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച ചായ്‌ബാസ സദർ ഹോസ്പിറ്റൽ ബ്ലഡ് ബാങ്കിൽ നിന്ന് രക്തം സ്വീകരിച്ച തലസീമിയ രോഗബാധിതനായ 7 വയസുള്ള കുട്ടിയുടെ കുടുംബമാണ് ആദ്യം പരാതി ഉന്നയിച്ചത്. ആശുപത്രിയില്‍ നിന്ന് രക്തം സ്വീകരിച്ചതിന് പിന്നാലെ കുട്ടിയ്ക്ക് എച്ച്ഐവി പോസിറ്റീവായെന്ന് കുടുംബം പരാതി നൽകുകയായിരുന്നു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് നടത്തിയ അന്വേഷണത്തില്‍ ഈ കാലയളവില്‍ രക്തം സ്വീകരിച്ച നാല് കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് കൂടി എച്ച്ഐവി ബാധിച്ചതായി കണ്ടെത്തി. 

അതേസമയം, വിഷയത്തെ അതീവ ഗൗരവത്തോടെ നോക്കികാണുന്നുവെന്നും ആരോഗ്യവകുപ്പ് അറിയിച്ചു. ഉപയോഗിച്ച സൂചി വീണ്ടും ഉപയോഗിച്ചതാണോ എച്ച്ഐവി അണുബാധയ്ക്ക് കാരണമെന്നും അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.

Five children in Jharkhand, India, have been diagnosed with HIV after receiving blood transfusions at the government hospital in Chaibasa. This alarming incident suggests serious irregularities at the blood bank, as preliminary investigations found that blood samples were not properly tested and adequate records were not maintained. The issue came to light when the family of a 7-year-old thalassemia patient, who received a transfusion from the Chaibasa Sadar Hospital Blood Bank, filed a complaint after the child tested HIV positive. Subsequent investigation confirmed that four other children who received blood during the same period were also infected with HIV. The Jharkhand government has ordered an investigation, with a five-member team led by Health Department Director Dr. Dinesh Kumar taking charge. Authorities are also investigating whether the use of contaminated or recycled needles could have caused the HIV infections.
