 നഗരമധ്യത്തിലെ തരിശു ഭൂമിയില്‍  കൃഷിചെയ്ത  ചെണ്ടുമല്ലിയും പച്ചക്കറിയും നൂറുമേനി വിളവുകൊയ്ത് കൊല്ലം കോര്‍പറേഷന്‍. ഓണാവശ്യത്തിനും നാട്ടുകാര്‍ക്കും നല്‍കുന്നതിനായിരുന്നു കൃഷി ചെയ്തത്. വിളവെടുപ്പ് ഉദ്ഘാടനം കൊല്ലം മേയര്‍ ഹണി ബെഞ്ചമിന്‍ നിര്‍വഹിച്ചു.

നിറയെ പൂത്തു നില്‍ക്കുകയാണ് ചെണ്ടുമല്ലി. 2000 തൈകളാണ് തൊഴിലുറപ്പ് തൊഴിലാളിള്‍ കൊല്ലം വടക്കുംഭാഗം അറവുശാലയ്ക്കു സമീപം നട്ടത്. പരിപാലനം അഞ്ചു പേരടങ്ങുന്ന ഗ്രൂപ്പുകളായാണ് നടത്തിയത്. ഒടുവില്‍ ഓണത്തിനു പൂക്കള്‍ ഹിറ്റടിച്ചു. ആകെ പൂത്തു നില്‍ക്കുന്ന ഇവിടം കോര്‍പറേഷനിലെ ആള്‍ക്കാരുടെ സെല്‍ഫി പോയിന്‍റാണ്. 

പച്ചക്കറി കൃഷിയും ഹിറ്റാണ്. വെണ്ടയും വഴുതനയും തുടങ്ങി പടവലം വരെ നല്ല വിളവാണ് ലഭിച്ചത്.    കോര്‍പറേഷന്‍ മേയറും , ഡെപ്യൂട്ടി മേയറും ചേര്‍ന്നാണ് വിളവെടുപ്പ് നടത്തിയത്.  ഓണത്തിനു തുടങ്ങിയ കൃഷി ഹിറ്റായതോടെ സ്ഥിരം കൃഷി ആരംഭിക്കുന്നതും കോര്‍പറേഷന്‍റെ പരിഗണനയിലാണ്.

ENGLISH SUMMARY:

The Kollam Corporation has achieved a bumper harvest of marigolds and vegetables from a barren plot in the heart of the city. The produce was cultivated for Onam and local residents. The harvest was officially inaugurated by Kollam Mayor Honey Benjamin. About 2,000 marigold saplings were planted by MGNREGA workers near the Vattakkambakam slaughterhouse. The marigolds became a hit for Onam, and the plot turned into a popular selfie spot. The vegetable cultivation was also a success, yielding a good harvest of okra, brinjal, and snake gourd. Following this success, the Corporation is considering making this a permanent farming initiative.
