അന്തരിച്ച മുൻ മന്ത്രിയും KPCC മുൻ പ്രസിഡന്റുമായ സി.വി.പത്മരാജന്റെ മരണാനന്തര ചടങ്ങിൽ പൂർണ ഔദ്യോഗിക ബഹുമതി നൽകിയില്ലെന്നു വിവാദം കൊഴുക്കുന്നു. പത്മരാജനോട് കാണിച്ചത് അനാദരവെന്ന് ജില്ലയിലെ കോൺഗ്രസ്‌ നേതൃത്വം. മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയുടെ ചുമതല കൂടി വഹിച്ച മുതിർന്ന രാഷ്ട്രീയ നേതാവിന്റെ മരണാനന്തര ചടങ്ങിൽ പൊലീസ് ഗാർഡ് ഓഫ് ഓണർ നൽകിയെങ്കിലും ആചാരവെടി നൽകാൻ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയുടെ പ്രത്യേക ഉത്തരവ് ഉണ്ടായില്ല. 

ഭരണഘടനാ പദവികളോ മറ്റ് ഉന്നത പദവികളോ വഹിച്ചിരുന്നവർ അന്തരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അന്തിമോപചാരമായി ഔദ്യോഗിക ബഹുമതികളും പുറമേ ആചാരവെടിയും നൽകാറുണ്ട്. ഇതിനു മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയുടെ പ്രത്യേക നിർദേശം വേണം. സി.വി.പത്മരാജന്റെ അന്തിമോപചാര ചടങ്ങിൽ ബ്യൂഗിൾ വാദനത്തോടെ പൊലീസിന്റെ ഗാർഡ് ഓഫ് ഓണർ മാത്രമേ ഉണ്ടായുള്ളൂ. ആചാരവെടി മുഴക്കിയില്ല.

മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയുടെ ഓഫിസിൽ നിന്നു പ്രത്യേക ഉത്തരവ് ലഭിച്ചില്ലെന്നാണ് ഇതുസംബന്ധിച്ച വിവരാവകാശ നിയമം പ്രകാരമുള്ള ചവറ ഗോപകുമാറിന്റെ ചോദ്യത്തിനു പൊതുഭരണ വകുപ്പിന്റെ മറുപടി. ഇതിനെതിരെയാണ് ഇപ്പോൾ ജില്ലയിലെ കോൺഗ്രസ് നേതൃത്വം രംഗത്തെത്തിയത്. എന്നാൽ വിഷയത്തിൽ സിപിഎം നേതൃത്വത്തിന്റെ പ്രതികരണം ഇതുവരെയും ഉണ്ടായിട്ടില്ല.

A major controversy has erupted over the funeral of former minister and KPCC president C.V. Padmarajan. The district Congress leadership has alleged that the late leader was denied full official honours, specifically the firing of a gun salute, which is customary for such prominent personalities. While a police guard of honour with a bugle was provided, the special order from the Chief Minister's Office required for the gun salute was not issued. A response to an RTI query confirmed that no such specific instruction was given. The Congress leadership has condemned this as a sign of disrespect towards a senior political figure who also served as an acting Chief Minister. The CPI(M) leadership has not yet responded to the allegations.
