ശബരിമല ഗ്രീൻഫീൽഡ് വിമാനത്താവളത്തിനായി ഭൂമി ഏറ്റെടുക്കാനുള്ള സംസ്ഥാന സർക്കാരിന്റെ വിജ്ഞാപനം ഹൈക്കോടതി റദ്ദാക്കി. വിമാനത്താവള പദ്ധതിക്ക് ആവശ്യമായ ഏറ്റവും കുറഞ്ഞ ഭൂമി എത്രയാണെന്ന് ശാസ്ത്രീയമായി വിലയിരുത്തുന്നതിൽ സർക്കാർ പരാജയപ്പെട്ടുവെന്ന് ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടിയാണ് ഉത്തരവ്.
പദ്ധതിക്കായി ചെറുവള്ളി എസ്റ്റേറ്റിലെ 2,263 ഏക്കർ ഉൾപ്പെടെ 2,570 ഏക്കർ ഭൂമി ഏറ്റെടുക്കാനായിരുന്നു സർക്കാർ നേരത്തെ അനുമതി നൽകിയിരുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ, ഇത്രയധികം ഭൂമി പദ്ധതിക്ക് ആവശ്യമാണോ എന്ന് പരിശോധിക്കുന്നതിൽ അധികൃതർ വീഴ്ച വരുത്തിയെന്നും, സാമൂഹിക ആഘാത പഠനവും വിദഗ്ധ സമിതി റിപ്പോർട്ടും വേണ്ടത്ര ഗൗരവത്തോടെയല്ല തയ്യാറാക്കിയതെന്നും ജസ്റ്റിസ് സി.ജയചന്ദ്രൻ വിലയിരുത്തി.

The Kerala High Court has set aside the state government’s land acquisition notification for the proposed Sabarimala greenfield airport. The court ruled that the government failed to scientifically determine the minimum land required for the project. Over 2,570 acres, including land from the Cheruvally estate, were proposed to be acquired for the airport. Justice C. Jayachandran pointed out lapses in evaluating the actual necessity of such a large land area. The court also criticised the lack of seriousness in the social impact assessment study. The expert committee report was found to be inadequate, resulting in a major setback for the government’s airport plans.
