വന്യമൃഗങ്ങളെ വേട്ടയാടാൻ കർഷകരെ ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്ത് ഇ.പി. ജയരാജൻ. വനം നിയമത്തിൽ മാറ്റം വരുത്താൻ കേന്ദ്രം തയ്യാറായില്ലെങ്കിൽ കർഷകരോട് ആയുധമെടുക്കാൻ ആവശ്യപ്പെടുമെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. 1972-ലെ കോൺഗ്രസിന്റെ നിയമം അനുസരിക്കേണ്ടതില്ലെന്നും ഇ.പി. കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.

നേരത്തെ, വന്യമൃഗ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിന് ലോകത്താകെ നടപ്പാക്കുന്നത് നായാട്ടുപോലത്തെ നടപടിക്രമങ്ങളാണെന്നും ഇന്ത്യയിലും അതിന് അനുമതി വേണമെന്നും മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പിണറായി വിജയന്‍ പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. ‘നാട്ടില്‍ ജനസംഖ്യാ നിയന്ത്രണം ഉണ്ടായെങ്കിലും വന്യമൃഗങ്ങളുടെ വര്‍ധനവ് നിയന്ത്രിക്കാനായിട്ടില്ല. വന്യമൃഗങ്ങള്‍ വര്‍ധിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ്. അവയുടെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിന് ആവശ്യമായ നടപടികള്‍ സ്വീകരിക്കേണ്ടതുണ്ട്.’ എന്നാണ് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞത്.
