കോട്ടയം കുമ്മനത്ത് രണ്ടരമാസം പ്രായമുള്ള ആണ്‍കുഞ്ഞിനെ വില്‍ക്കാന്‍ ശ്രമം. അസംകാരനായ അച്ഛനും ഇടനിലക്കാരനും വാങ്ങാനെത്തിയ യു.പി. സ്വദേശിയും കസ്റ്റഡിയില്‍. കുഞ്ഞിന്റെ അമ്മ എതിര്‍ത്തതോടെ ശ്രമം പാളി. 50,000 രൂപയുടെ കടം തീര്‍ക്കാനാണ് കുഞ്ഞിനെ വില്‍ക്കാന്‍ ശ്രമിച്ചതെന്നാണ് അച്ഛന്റെ മൊഴി. നാട്ടുകാര്‍ പൊലീസില്‍ വിവരം അറിയിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. കുഞ്ഞിനെ വാങ്ങാന്‍ എത്തിയ  യു.പിക്കാരന്‍ ആയിരം രൂപയും നല്‍കിയിരുന്നു.

An attempt to sell a two-and-a-half-month-old baby boy in Kummanam, Kottayam, was foiled after the child's mother resisted the sale. The father (from Assam), a middleman, and a buyer (from UP) were taken into custody. The father confessed he tried to sell the baby to repay a ₹50,000 debt. The matter was reported to the police by locals.
